Clippers forward Blake Griffin down with injury yet again

Clippers forward Blake Griffin down with injury yet again

Griffin fell to the ground clutching his knee and checked out for good after the next Clippers possession.

So when Rivers was asked about the injury, he explained how he saw it and said Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball was trying to make a play which is what led to Griffin's knee injury on Monday.

Blake Griffin suffered his knee injury on this play Monday vs. the Lakers.

It was the 11th consecutive "home" victory for the Clippers over the Lakers, while the Clippers have also won 20 of the last 22 games in the matchup. Once he returns, numberFire's models project him to record 23.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 2.9 turnovers per game on 51.3 percent from the field.

"It didn't look good obviously, but we just have to wait and see", Doc Rivers said (via the Los Angeles Times).

The Clippers are already missing three key players, including guard Patrick Beverley, who is out for the season after having right knee surgery last week.

Without Griffin, the Clippers have little-to-no scoring.

Griffin went back to the locker room shortly after the play. Forward Danilo Gallinari and guard Milos Teodosic are hurt, too.

The Clippers are only a half game back of the Utah Jazz, who now hold the No. 8 seed.

Given we can expect the Clippers to play at a pace slightly better than.500 with Griffin, they'd have to be close to even by the time he returns.

If the Clippers give up hope of making the playoffs, they'll have to consider trading two key players who can become free agents at season's end. Prior to that, he missed most of the 2015-2016 National Basketball Association regular season. Most of the league still expects their talent to win out and the Thunder to find solutions for their struggles.
