OnePlus rolls out Android Oreo 8.0 update to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

The updates bring the all-new OxygenOS 5.0 and are expected to be relatively stable than Open Beta updates. While the latest OnePlus 5 and 5T have yet to even see the shadow of a beta, the OEM has finally got the ball rolling on bringing the Android Oreo OTA to last year's flagships. The new update also comes with a revamped quick settings design, along with the updated security patch for September from Google. At the event, OnePlus had confirmed a timeline for the open beta testing of Android Oreo on its new phones.

Over a month after it started the public beta test of the Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones, the Chinese smartphone upstart OnePlus has released the final Android 8.0 update to both phones. However, this works for OnePlus as the company now has to roll out Android Oreo and Android P for the device fulfilling the mandatory 2 updates policy. The update also brings several new features like - Picture in Picture (PiP), auto-fill, and smart text selection feature.

OnePlus announced that the Android 8.0 Oreo will be the last major update that the yesteryear flagship smartphones will receive. Both the devices now run the Android 7.0 Nougat based Oxygen OS.

With the new software update coming in, OnePlus 3 and 3T users are receiving system updates, bug fixes, several improvement and new features.
