Man hunted after auto ploughs into pedestrians in NY

Two people were stabbed and six were struck by a auto when deadly violence erupted outside a New York City hookah bar early Sunday, police said.

The driver plowed into the crowd after a knife fight outside the hookah bar XS NYC (center).

). The incident is not being investigated as a terror attack, police said. "The auto was going really fast, at least 50 miles per hour on the sidewalk", Rogers said.

"I saw a couple of kids, just fighting", neighbor Milagros Urbina said.

The reasons behind the incident are still unknown, as the search for the suspect who reportedly drove a white Hyundai Sonata is now underway.

One person was killed, two were critically injured and one suffered minor injuries. They were screaming, it was insane. Two men were stabbed and are hospitalized in stable condition. The remaining five were rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where one was listed in critical condition early Sunday.

Police were searching for the driver, The Associated Press reported.

Police have not provided a description of the vehicle, but witnesses told CBS New York the driver who fled the scene has a ponytail. A search was underway for a white sedan.
