Meek Mill lawyers seek judge's removal, citing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe

Meek Mill lawyers seek judge's removal, citing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe

- A Philadelphia judge says Meek Mill will stay in prison because he's a "danger to the community". According to CBS 3 reporter Joe Holden, Brinkley referred to Mill, 30, as a "danger to the community", and labeled him a flight risk, both points leading to her denial in a request for appeal from Mill's attorney's. The filing also said that now that Brinkley is aware of the investigation she needs to recuse from Williams' case.

The Ima Boss hitmaker, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, recently began serving his sentence for two-to-four years behind bars after violating his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. They argued that the existence of a probe raises questions about the judge's ability to fairly preside over the case.

Last week (ends01Dec17), the defense lawyers turned to officials at Pennsylvania's Superior Court to step in amid claims Judge Brinkley has been ignoring their motions for bail, asking them to consider their emergency petition to free Meek pending their appeal.

A reported investigation by the FBI into Judge Brinkley's conduct is ongoing.

Brinkley said during Mill's November sentencing that he "basically thumbed your nose at me".

"You have public outrage, but you don't have public outrage because people like his music", Tacopina told VIBE in a previous interview. Tacopina also said Brinkley had asked Williams to record a version of the Boyz II Men song "On Bended Knee" that included a specific reference to her in the song.

Numerous Philadelphia-based attorneys who spoke with The Legal in the wake of the sentencing, however, said they were skeptical that the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be interested in Brinkley.

Judge Genece Brinkley was ordered to act "without further delay" on the bail request, which was filed two weeks ago.
