Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2017 details announced

So far, Roadhog, Hanzo and Junkrat are confirmed to be receiving new skins, but the rest are TBA. The King's Row and Hanamura maps have been decorated with snow and festive lights, and players will find stacks of presents and decorated trees they can blast at with their various weaponry. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan talking about the event. There's no word given on exactly when Yeti Hunt and the rest of Winter Wonderland will debut, but last year's event ran from 13 December to 3 January so I'm guessing it will be about the same this time around. For 2016's Winter Wonderland story content, Blizzard released a holiday-themed comic called Reflections. In addition to the expected holiday themed skins, sprays, highlight intros and emotes, there's also a new Brawl that sees two entire teams of Mei throwing snowballs at one another. In an effort to make the limited-time event more balanced for the slow moving Meis, the Chinese climatologists can make use of an exclusive new ability, placing down an ice trap for the unsuspecting Yeti to get stuck in. Any new outfit or additional cosmetic from 2017 is always at a higher cost. This new mode will pit five Mei players against a single overpowered Winston (no doubt sporting his Yeti skin).

Winter Wonderland launches for all Overwatch players across PC, Xbox One and PS4 on December 12. It's touted as a boss-fight kind of deal, but the fun part is, another player will be playing Winston, who might develop recurring nightmares of thousands of Meis shooting at them. Additionally, a new game mode called Mei's Yetti Hunt will be introduced that is created to play out like a boss fight. If Winston dies, the Meis win; if enough of the Meis die, Winston wins. Winston will be running around the map eating pieces of meat which fuel his Primal Rage.
