Rahul Gandhi to File Nomination For Congress President's Post Today

"It is totally unacceptable to me and my family that Shehzad has dragged Mrs. Gandhi into this, he should have presented whatever issues he had in the party forum.I really don't know why Shehzad did this, it's very surprising, he did not discuss this at all with the family".

Rahul's election will herald a new era in the 132-year-old party and bring down the curtains on the long tenure of Sonia Gandhi. The tape, he said, was of his conversation with the party's senior leader Manish Tiwari, who had "insulted" him.

Last week, the 30-year-old Maharashtra Congress Secretary, who indicated that he wanted to contest the election, had alleged that it was a sham since Rahul Gandhi enjoys an "unfair advantage".

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is all set to file his nomination for the post of Congress president on December 4.

"Sardar Patel was insulted by the Congress leadership back in the day and I feel the same way today. I proved that they lied", he said.

Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had argued that the Congress would lose the upcoming polls (in Gujarat), but the Gandhi family but the Gandhi family would nevertheless emerge victorious after its scion Rahul is elected party president.

"A youngster Shehzad has exposed the rigging that is taking place in the Congress President's poll". Modi said at a rally in Surendranagar. Rupani was referring to the recent rebellion instigated by Shehzad Poonawalla in the Congress party.

He also denied the allegations levied by the Congress that he is not a member of the party. "I had to become a whistle-blower", he said showing proofs of his communication with state wing of the party.

PM Modi, who is on a two-day tour of Gujarat as part of BJP's election campaign, also accused the Congress of trying to muzzle Poonawalla's voice after he questioned the process of electing the president of the Congress party.

Meanwhile, Congress had raised questions over Poonawalla's existence in the party after the Congress leader expressed his displeasure regarding the process of the election. He had also written a letter to Rahul in this regard.

"I have got information that the delegates who are going to vote for the party president elections are fixed, its rigged". If the system is genuine, then I will contest. "They have been handpicked", he told IANS.
