Twitter Fears James Harrison Will Sign With Patriots After Release From Steelers

Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com reported that the Steelers parted ways with the two-time All-Pro linebacker Harrison to make room for tackle Marcus Gilbert, who will return Sunday after he was activated from the Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner List to the active roster.

Netizens expect the #New England Patriots to snag veteran linebacker #James Harrison after he was released by AFC closest rival #Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday. Harrison only has appeared in five games and 40 total snaps after playing in 15 regular-season games and three playoff contests with the Steelers in the 2016 campaign.

No one in the National Football League is immune from single-minded front-offices looking to clear cap space or roster spots, but you might have thought James Harrison was pretty close.

Harrison took to Instagram shortly after his release, and it sounds like he's not ready to hang up his cleats just yet.

The Steelers released Harrison, which was a bit of surprise since the playoffs begin in two weeks. Watt, who beat him for the starting job in the preseason.

"Per a report from CBS Sports, the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens are both interested in bringing in Harrison for a playoff run".

And so just like that, one of the best players in recent Steelers history is a free agent.

Already numerous fans and analysts are speculating that Harrison could land with the team Pittsburgh seems likely to meet in the AFC Championship Game, the Patriots. In his career, Harrison has 82.5 sacks, eight interceptions and 570 tackles. Harrison is also the franchise's all-time leader in sacks, and won NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.
