Agreement with Istanbul Basaksehir FK for the loan of Arda Turan

Barcelona have loaned former Turkey worldwide Arda Turan to Istanbul Basaksehir for the rest of this season and two more, the Liga leaders said in a statement on Saturday.

Los Azulgranas agreed on a two-and-a-half-season loan for the midfielder, and maintain the right to sell the player in that period (the Turkish club are the most likely suitors) in every transfer window, as well as receiving unstated performance-based variables.

Arda leaves the Catalan club after 55 appearances, scoring 15 goals and winning nine trophies.

Turan, who turns 31 at the end of the month, joined Barca for €35 million in 2015 during an election campaign, a signing made by president Josep Maria Bartomeu and backed by Luis Enrique, the club's coach at the time. "This is not just a transfer for Basaksehir, but for all of Turkey".

Ernesto Valverde replaced Enrique last summer and has not given Turan a single minute of competitive football this season.

Turan was also part of the team in the six titles the club managed to claim: One League, two Copas del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, one Club World Cup and one European Super Cup.

This week, the Turkish Super Lig leader stated that a move for Arda was close to being finalised.
