Circuit City Announces Plans for Digital, Physical Comeback

Eventually, the revitalized company plans to open showroom-style stores as part of its brick-and-mortar retail strategy.

Almost a decade after Circuit City shut its doors, the former electronics retail giant could be ready to flip the power back on.

The website will offer videos, virtual vignettes, search-by-photo, augmented reality and real-time tech support via video chat.

Circuit City is an iconic brand in the Consumer Electronic industry, established 1949 and relaunched under new ownership in 2016.

Additionally, the site will be supported by IBM Watson's AI commerce platform, which is programmed to learn customers' interests and help them shop by "placing experience over product", according to Shmoel.

The popular electronics retailer announced it will relaunch online on February 15, with the company eventually planning on operating out of kiosks before opening showrooms.

At the CES event, Circuit City is expected to announce its official launch concentrated on the retail verticals of e-commerce, mobile, technology, omni-channel commerce.

Fans of the electronics store "where service is state of the art" will soon get to shop at Circuit City once again.

This time around, Shmoel says the company is also planning to open retail kiosks and stores-within-stores.
