Creating His First TV Series Since Fringe

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abrams is developing a new drama series through his Bad Robot Productions banner, now housed under Warner Bros.

Abrams has kept plenty busy in the past few years on the film side alone.

Of course, Abrams is no stranger to television audiences. The two are now shopping the show to multiple bidders, and a few have already shown interest.

Sources say the Abrams drama is about a family-consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter-who all get into a awful vehicle crash.

The script is said to focus on a girl who discovers a secret experiment in her mother's laboratory that transports her and her father to another world filled with monsters and danger. Whether this premise has any of the ambitious potential of Lost or Fringe remains to be seen, although the fact that Abrams had a hand in many iconic genre shows is certainly promising.

According to Variety, Abrams would also executive produce, with Ben Stephenson, head of television for Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, also serving as an executive producer.

THR states that Apple and HBO are both vying to be involved in the untitled project, which is completely unsurprising. In addition to writing, producing, and directing "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", Abrams also executive produced "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and will again produce, write, and direct "Star Wars: Episode IX".
