Barcelona talisman Leo Messi along with his fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to lead the team with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne forming a bolstering midfield. Over 8.8 million fans voted in the UEFA public polls to select the eleven outstanding players who impressed throughout a year ago.

Fellow Belgian Kevin De Bruyne is the only other Premier League representative in the side while Gianluigi Buffon, the oldest ever player to make the team at 39, has received his fifth selection.

UEFA's official website announced the group, assembled in a fantasy Team of the Year, drawing on 8.8 million votes from fans worldwide.
