Mom of H&M Model Wearing 'Racist' Monkey Hoodie Says 'Get Over It'

Mom of H&M Model Wearing 'Racist' Monkey Hoodie Says 'Get Over It'

Although Mango doesn't have a problem with the hoodie, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't at least talk about the fact that someone at H&M didn't see how an image like that would be perceived by the world.

Clarifying her stance on the issue, she said: "I really don't understand but not [because I'm] choosing not to but because it's not my way of thinking".

That being said, Mango agreed that "everyone is entitled to their opinion about this", even if she happened to disagree.

The Evening Standard has contacted the woman for further comment.

The dismissive comment was met with surprise by some social media users, who questioned why Ms Mango was endorsing the "racist" image. The hip-hop stud has hit up social media to salute Puff Daddy for allegedly offering up $1 million to the now-infamous H&M child model.

She shared it on Twitter, writing: "Whose idea was it @hm to have this little sweet black boy wear a jumper that says "coolest monkey in the jungle"?".

An H&M spokesperson told Newsbeat: "We completely understand and agree with their reaction to the image".

The more meaningful mea culpa came after stars such as The Weeknd, who had a clothing line with the brand, said they would no longer do business with the Scandinavians.

Referring to the green jumper on Twitter, Labour MP Kate Osamor said: "I was totally shocked, dismayed to say the very least to find this online imagine".

A spokeswoman for the Swedish label announced: "We have been in contact with the child's mother and we have an ongoing dialogue with her on how we can support them". "I'm deeply offended and will not be working with H&M anymore". Lerato Kganyago lambasted the clothing brand through a series of tweets, claiming that many black people were only brought into companies not to make decisions but to add "ambience".

The image advertising the £7.99 jumper was removed from H&M's United States and UK websites shortly after the outrage broke and the retailer quickly issued a statement apologising to "anyone it may have offended".

"It's obvious that our routines haven't been followed properly". This is without any doubt. "We will now be doing everything we possibly can to prevent this from happening again in future".
