Pakistani court directs police to arrest Zainab rape-murder culprit

A 16-year-old girl's body was also found near a field in a separate case where she was reportedly raped and then later strangled to death in Bahawalpur, Pakistan.

"Initial autopsy report suggests that the girl was strangulated after rape", Hameed said.

According to the examination was conducted by Dr Quaratulain Attique. Her dead body was found in a garbage heap on Tuesday.

After the heart-wrenching story that stunned Pakistan, another incident has come to light as a man tried to rape a five-year-old girl in Yazman, southern Punjab, on Friday.

Ruling PML-N member Punjab Assembly Hina Butt submitted a privilege motion in the assembly, seeking justice for 11 other minor girls who were killed after rape in Kasur and adjoining areas during the a year ago. Only one of the children survived their ordeal.

News reports say there is surveillance video showing Zainab being led away from her home by a man.

Senior advocate Ahmad Raza Kasuri earlier claimed that the suspect responsible for the rape and murder of Zainab in Kasur case has been arrested. During the show, she said, "Today I'm not your host Kiran Naz".

"Today I am not Kiran Naz".

"I have no information about any arrest in my daughter's murder case", Zainab's father Amin Ansari told Tanvir Shahzad, DW's correspondent in Lahore.

"It is true that a child's corpse is the heaviest".

"Two protesters have been killed and three others injured, the situation is still tense", he said.

A local police spokesman told AFP news agency "up to 1,000" people had taken to the streets.

Hundreds of protesters enraged over the murder of a young girl threw stones at government buildings in Kasur for a second day on Thursday, amid growing outrage over the killing.

Her parents had gone to Saudi Arabia on a religious pilgrimage.

Later, he was caught by locals and handed over to police.

Zainab's uncle, Ghulam Rasool, said: 'Police are not co-operating with us. We don't want an innocent to be presented as the culprit and killed just to wash this case'.

Pakistanis expressed their shock on social media using the hashtag "justiceforZainab". They are demanding justice in the case and to award exemplary punishment to the culprit so that such incidents can be avoided in the future.

'This is not the first time such horrific acts have happened. What is missing from the discussion is the larger issue of child protection in Pakistan.
