Saharanpur cops suspended for refusing to help teens after accident

Saharanpur: In a shocking incident, two teenage boys, victims of a road accident, were left to die on the road in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur after three policemen allegedly refused to ferry them to a hospital in their vehicle. The locals went to the site of accident and pulled the teens out after they were screaming for help.

"If the auto gets washed, then where will we sit all night?" one of the officers is heard saying after a bystander requests them to take the boys to the hospital. In the meantime, the locals informed the police who reached the spot in a Dial 100 in Toyota Innova auto.

Consequently, the locals took both the wounded victims to a district hospital in a three-wheeler where both died during the treatment.

"It came to our notice that PRB 970 reached on the spot (of the accident) and refused to take the youth to the hospital", ANI quoted the police superintendent as saying.

After the incident, police who were night patrolling in the area, refused to help two accident victims lying in a pool of blood to "avoid blood stains in the car".

Taking cognisance of the video showing indifferent cops refusing help to the victims, Saharanpur police administration Friday suspended three cops - head constable Inderpal Singh and constables Pankaj Kumar and Manoj Kumar.

Three police officers in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, are accused of failing to transport the young men because they did not want blood stains in their auto. He is also heard telling a man who is standing nearby to check the pulse of his bleeding friend.

"Bhaiya, iski body thandi ho rahi hai. Kuch to karo. (His body is getting cold, please do something.)", pleaded the friend.

Saharanpur city police chief Prabal Pratap Singh has suspended the cops and have claimed that further actions will be taken against them after an enquiry.

"Had my child received first aid on time, he could have been saved". Even the doctors say that.
