Total War: Three Kingdoms Announced With Epic Cinematic Trailer

The only Total War games the studio has developed since 2015's Total War: Attila have all taken place in the Warhammer universe.

According to the game's Steam page, Total War: Three Kingdoms is set to launch for PC on September 6 2018.

The next historical Total War game will be set in 190CE China and focus on the Three Kingdoms period. However, the developer isn't hitting the breaks just yet, with it announcing the next major installment to its strategy series, Total War: Three Kingdoms.

The official description states, "China is in turmoil".

In the game, the child-emperor is being manipulated by a tyrant, Dong Zhuo, who exerts an oppressive rule over China.

Three heroes, sworn to brotherhood in the face of tyranny, rally support for the trials ahead. He is but a figurehead; a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo. "The future of China will be shaped by their hands, but personal ambition threatens their already crumbling alliance".

In November, Creative Assembly discussed the direction of its historical games-teasing scant information on what would become series spin-off Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, Rome 2's Empire divided DLC, and a then unnamed "brand new era" in the process.

We see Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, and Lieu Bei, among many others, spotlighted in the trailer as the heroes of their faction, along with a brief look at the seemingly indomitable Lu Bu. Koei Tecmo have been mining the period for their Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors titles for years (between the two series, they've released over 30 games).
