YouTube Releases Official Apology for Logan Paul Video

"In light of recent events, we have chose to remove Logan Paul's channels from Google Preferred", a YouTube spokeswoman said in a statement.

YouTube has put its original projects with vlogger Logan Paul on hold, 11 days after he faced heavy backlash over an insensitive video he posted featuring a suicide victim.

YouTube issued a series of Twitter posts Tuesday apologizing for its delay in addressing Paul's channel and telling viewers that it has taken action against him.

The video showed Paul and his friends at the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mount Fuji, known to be a frequent site of suicides.

He can be heard giggling as the camera lingers over the corpse, but is later seen looking shocked while wearing a bright-green Toy Story hat.

It was also decided that Logan will no longer play Andie's (Jenn McAllister) older brother, Alec, on season four of YouTube RED comedy Foursome, and his upcoming movie, The Thinning: New World Order, is now on hold indefinitely. Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner called Paul an "idiot" and said his apology was "self-praising".

Both Paul and PewDiePie are in the top-10 earning YouTube vloggers, trousering millions of dollars for their videos which largely comprise of playing video games and carrying out stupid pranks.

Here's a YouTube PR statement: "We built Google Preferred to help our customers easily reach YouTube's most passionate audiences and we've seen strong traction in the previous year with a record number of brands".

Logan Paul, a prominent YouTube celebrity, last week posted a video of a dead body in Japan from an apparent suicide. The video has since been taken down, and Paul has issued numerous statements of apology. So far, there have been no reports of advertisers pulling ads from YouTube in response to the Logan Paul situation. Many have also pointed out that the video was, in fact, taken down voluntarily by Paul and not by YouTube.

One theme I've heard when I talk to those people: This ultra-premium version of YouTube is likely to favor big, established media companies instead of the home-grown YouTube stars like Logan Paul.

What is YouTube punishing Logan Paul for? It's even more disturbing that young adults look up to Paul and watch his videos regularly (he has over 15 million subscribers).
