Crore, Chandrababu Naidu Is India's Richest Chief Minister

The report was based on the analysis of the self-sworn affidavits of current chief ministers (CMs) in state assemblies and UTs across the nation by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW).

Of the 31 CMs, 8 or 26 per cent have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to murder, attempt to murder, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, criminal intimidation etc.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu topped the list of wealthiest CMs with assets valued at over Rs 177 crore.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao occupied fifth position with Rs 15 crore assets.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu is on the second spot and Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is on the third place with assets of Rs 129 crore and 48 crores respectively. The average assets of CMs are worth Rs 16.18 crore, it said. He is followed by WB's Mamata Banerjee (Rs. 30L) and J&K's Mufti (Rs. 56L).

The report also mentioned that 35 per cent of Indian CMs have criminal cases registered against them.

With 22, Maharashtra's Devendra Fadnavis has the highest number of criminal cases, followed by Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan (11) and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal (10).

What other parameters were analyzed?

Out of the total 31 CMs assessed, 25 were found to crorepatis. This includes Banerjee, Mufti and Rajasthan's Vasundhara Raje.

In terms of educational qualification, 3 CMs are 12th pass, 12 are graduate, 10 CMs are graduate professionals, 5 are post graduates and just 1 CM holds a doctorate degree.

Further, data regarding criminal cases, lack of gender parity is pretty disturbing.

However, though it claims Sarkar's wealth is Rs. 26L, his latest affidavit on ECI website declares his and his wife's combined assets as Rs. 33cr.
