SuRie wins Eurovision: You Decide 2018!

SuRie is no stranger to Eurovision - she was a backing singer for Belgian entry Blanche past year, as well as Loic Nottet in 2015.

Evening all, and welcome to 2018's Eurovision: You Decide liveblog!

The singer was crowned the victor of Eurovision You Decide on BBC2, and will now go on to fly the flag for the United Kingdom at the Grand Final with her track, Storm, in Portugal in May.

She has also sung backing vocals for acts such as Coldplay's Chris Martin and Will Young and appeared in the musical Les Miserables.

Hosted by Mel Giedroyc and victor of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, Måns Zelmerlöw, the 90-minute UK Selection show was broadcast live on BBC Two from the world-famous Brighton Dome.

The result was decided by a combined vote from viewers and an industry expert jury.

Hosted at its new home, the Brighton Dome, both the viewers and the jury were able to decide tonight's national final victor, who will go on to compete in the grand final of Eurovision 2018 this coming May in Lisbon. On top of that, out of all the shortlisted acts, her song sounded the most like a successful modern Eurovision entry.

Speaking about her previous Eurovision experiences a few weeks ago, she said: "My eyes were opened to the beauty of Eurovision a couple of years ago and I was working with the Belgians, so false flagging for a different country, but I had an wonderful time".
