Baseball Prospect Danry Vasquez Beating Girlfriend On Surveillance Video

The Lancaster Barnstormers have released outfielder Danry Vasquez, it has been announced by manager Ross Peeples. Surprisingly, he cut a plea deal with the District Attorney's officer that would see his charges dismissed if he held up his end of the bargain, taking classes and paying a fine, according to KRIS-TV.

The video, which officials had at the time of the arrest, shows Vasquez lashing out at the woman by smacking her with the back of his right hand, pulling her down the stairs and hitting her again multiple times while she puts up her arms in defense.

The Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball have now released Vasquez. saying, "Upon being made aware of the nature of the incident, the Barnstormers made a prompt decision to cut ties with the 24-year old".

'A recently released video out of Corpus Christi, Texas portrays a domestic violence episode involving Vasquez, ' the team said on its Facebook page.

A news channel in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday obtained video that reportedly shows a violent incident that invovled a former Major League Baseball prospect and his girlfriend.

Vasquez signed with another team in Pennsylvania following the alleged domestic violence incident, the station reported. A simple Google search would have turned up dozens of news stories about his arrest.

He was 22 at the time of the video and later arrested and charged with a misdemeanor, the report said. He spent the first 2+ seasons of his professional career in their organization before the Tigers traded him in July of 2013, as part of a package, to the Astros in exchange for reliever Jose Veras.

Vasquez could not be reached for comment on Wednesday. "After talking with several other people about him, I am very excited to bring him in. I am excited to see what he can do in our ballpark". That team announced that he was released after the video release. "Neither I, nor the Barnstormers' organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior".
