Duterte tells soldiers to shoot female rebels in the genitals

Rodrigo Duterte has received widespread condemnation after ordering his troops to shoot female communist rebels "in the vagina". "We will just shoot your vagina so that ... if there is no vagina, it would be useless".

"There's a new order coming from the mayor, 'We will not kill you. An Amazon.' 'Shoot them in the...,'" he said, according to the official transcript from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) which censored Duterte where he used a word for vagina.

"It is just the latest in a series of misogynist, derogatory and demeaning statements he has made about women", said Carlos H Conde, the Philippines researcher for Human Rights Watch.

Human rights watchdogs and women's groups have condemned Duterte recent statement after he said that female communist rebels in Philippine should be shot in their private parts as punishment for fighting the government.

His spokesperson dismissed Duterte's comments as "funny".

"Duterte's latest nasty remark openly encourages violence against women, contributes to the impunity on such, and further confirms himself as the most risky macho-fascist in the government right now", Gabriela Representative Emmi de Jesus said in a statement.

Duterte suggested he would pay the equivalent of nearly $400 for "every NPA you kill".

"Duterte's latest nasty remark openly encourages violence against women, contributes to the impunity on such, and further confirms himself as the most risky macho-fascist in the government right now", Gabriela representative Emmi de Jesus said.

The government has been embroiled in an ongoing conflict with communist rebels in the country, as peace talks stalled after Duterte declared the Communist Party and the New People's Army terrorist organizations in 2017.

The International Criminal Court is now investigating the president for crimes against humanity associated with the country's war on drugs.

Duterte said he has told European officials he won't attend an upcoming meeting between Southeast Asian and European leaders. He had in the past made news for "joking" about the rape of a kidnapped Australian who was later killed. But the President said he did not mind being indicted and imprisoned by the International Criminal Court as long as it allows conjugal visits by more than one woman. "Come on. Just laugh".
