Man Utd boss McTominay called up for Scotland friendlies

Goalkeepers: Jordan Archer, Alan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin.

The duo will join Scott McTominay in Alex McLeish's new-look group after the returning boss confirmed the Manchester United midfielder will play a part in the upcoming friendlies with Costa Rica and Hungary. Scotland then travel to Budapest four days later to face Hungary.

McLeish, beginning his second spell as national manager, needs to select a new captain, with Scott Brown having retired from global football.

McBurnie has found himself amongst the goals since joining Barnsley on loan from his parent club Swansea, scoring five goals in seven games since his January move.

Former Dundee United defender Douglas, 28, has been impressive since moving to Wolves last summer following spells in Poland and Turkey.

There is no doubt that on his day the 25-year-old midfielder is one of the best players in Scotland, but the surprising factor is that the player is only just back from injury after nearly two months out with a hernia injury.

The Lancaster-born Manchester United midfielder is one of six players receiving first call-ups after he pledged his global future to the native country of his Glaswegian father despite an approach from England.

His start against Liverpool took McTominay to eight Premier League appearances this season, with 11 other Manchester United run outs coming in the Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Scotland will play two more friendlies at the end of the season, travelling to play Peru and Mexico.
