New York Jets Turn Focus to Teddy Bridgewater

New York Jets Turn Focus to Teddy Bridgewater

Which version of Case Keenum are the Denver Broncos going to get - the player who we saw in Houston and St. Louis, or the player we saw previous year in Minnesota?

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is the latest National Football League player to take to social media in a bid to recruit quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Broncos were blighted by poor quarterback play last season, with Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch all failing to impress.

But what if they don't land the marquee free agent? The kind of consistent production the Vikings haven't seen from a quarterback since Daunte Culpepper was chucking the ball around for them in the early 2000s.

It also takes one fallback option off the table for the Jets.

In order to try to recapture a little of that history, the Broncos went after Keenum and got him.

Cousins was drafted 102nd overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

With that said, I trust Rick Spielman to do the right thing, and if that means Cousins on an insanely rich but somewhat short-term contract, I'll get on board and hope for the best. And it should be noted that the Broncos' best quarterbacks have largely arrived from somewhere else.

What this does hopefully, is give the Broncos a chance to really compete for a championship.

The Washington quarterback will sign a three-year, $84 million contract.

I suspect the Jets probably checked in on both of these players and then checked out when they heard those asking prices. Robinson is coming off an ACL tear, and Watkins has not been as productive as most expected when he was drafted in 2014.

Knee injuries have kept Bridgewater on the sidelines for much of the past two years as he's appeared in just one game since the end of the 2015 season.

With the possible loss of leading receiver Robby Anderson due to off-field issues, the Jets have money to acquire some big-time upgrades on offense to coax Cousins to the Meadowlands.

So now where do the Jets go?

They also have ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen entering their second seasons. That's what made this off-season situation so awesome, as the Vikings basically had their pick of what appeared to be three different franchise quality quarterbacks. That should change in 2018.
