Nicolas Cage Will Finally Get to Play Superman (in Teen Titans GO!)

Cage himself is a noted Superman fan - he used to own a copy of Superman's debut issue, Action Comics #1, and he named his son Kal-El after Clark Kent's Kryptonian name.

In the late 1990's Cage was expected to portray superman for director Tim Burton but in an unfortunate turn of events the project in the making was scrapped to the side.

Existing in the same continuity as their insane yet still active show on Cartoon Network, the Teen Titans find out that other DC superheroes seem to have films produced, so they seek out the flawless director (Kristen Bell) for their debut on the big screen, but an old enemy (Will Arnett) has other ideas planned for them.

Animation's upcoming Teen Titans GO! to the Movies, according to USA Today. And best of all: Nicolas Cage will play Superman. To the Movies-Cage will appear in a short voice-cameo as Superman opposite R&B star Lil Yachty as Green Lantern and popstar Halsey as Wonder Woman. The candy-colored animated flick is geared toward a younger audience, and looks to make light of all the cinematic superhero darkness we've come to expect. Adding Cage to the cast as Superman, however, is a masterstroke.

The film opens in theaters on July 27 and follows the Teen Titans, Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Raven (Tara Strong), Cyborg (Khary Payton) and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes), trying to get their big pop-culture break by seeking out a popular Hollywood director (Kristen Bell). That ultimately never made it to the big screen, but he'll finally have the chance to suit up in animation (via USA Today). But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!
