Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Sign With Jets

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Sign With Jets

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will sign a one-year deal with the New York Jets.

Bridgewater hasn't started an National Football League game since the playoffs in 2015 due to a major leg injury suffered days before the 2016 season.

UCLA's Josh Rosen, USC's Sam Darnold, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Wyoming's Josh Allen are the top four quarterbacks in the draft.

The Jets are apparently moving on from their chase of Kirk Cousins, who is signing with the Minnesota Vikings, but Bridgewater is a risk.

The leg injury pulled a 180 on Bridgewater's career coming off an 11-win season and playoff appearance with the Vikings. The Vikings have since moved on to Kirk Cousins, while Bridgewater lands in NY with a chance to prove everyone wrong.

Now the Jets have to go back to the drawing board, and in all likelihood double down on finding their quarterback of the future in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former Louisville quarterback did appear in one game last season in place of Case Keenum throwing just two passes, one being an interception. The Jets weren't expected to competitive in 2017-18 but played above expectations, albeit winning only five regular-season games and finishing in the cellar of the AFC East.
