Wide receiver Danny Amendola expected to sign with Dolphins

With Amendola staying in the AFC East, Patriots fans will get to see him take on the Patriots twice in the regular season.

New England Patriots receiver Danny Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, NFL Network reports.

Amendola should be able to play a prominent role in Miami.

Both will be asked to make up for the loss of Jarvis Landry, traded to the Browns late last week.

Amendola, 32, spent the last five seasons with the Patriots.

Amendola finished the 2017 season with 61 receptions for 659 yards and two touchdowns, and earned the nickname "Danny "Playoff" Amendola" by adding another 26 catches for 348 yards and two scores during the postseason.

No deals agreed to with free agents can become official until Wednesday at 4 p.m., which is the first day of the new league year, and each player must first pass a physical to finalize the contract. The team is also reportedly signing Chiefs slot receiver Albert Wilson.

Once Julian Edelman suffered an ACL season, the Patriots relied upon Amendola to help pick up the slack.

And so, the Dolphins suddenly have a logjam at receiver.
