Blue Jays-Royals game postponed after falling ice damages stadium roof

The Star also reported that the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, suffered a hole in the roof over right field and that snow is now on the field.

The game had been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader starting Tuesday afternoon.

However, if ice is already busting holes in the roof of the Rogers Centre, what are they going to do when Vlad Guerrero Jr. gets called up?

The team tweeted earlier Monday that it was working to fix the hole, which was caused by a piece of ice falling from the neighboring CN Tower.

The Rogers Centre was one of the structures hit by falling ice and the Toronto Blue Jays are assessing the conditions around the building to determine the viability of playing tonight's scheduled game against the Kansas City Royals. "Relatively large" blocks of ice have been tumbling onto the streets and sidewalks. More than 120,000 customers across much of Ontario remained without power.

"Perhaps this potential postponement is karma, because the Blue Jays have done a lot of bragging about having a roof, particularly after having games postponed in Cleveland", Grathoff wrote a couple of hours before the team confirmed that Monday's game was a no-go. Monday's games between the Orioles-Red Sox and Cardinals-Cubs were also postponed, bringing MLB's season total to 24 so far.
