Pochettino has gone on record as not caring who scored the goal, while also suggesting the decision to appeal it was not down to him.

After the Premier League announced that they would be awarding Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane a goal previously credited to Christian Eriksen, social media was inundated with memes pulling the Spurs frontman's leg and now master impersonator and comedian Darren Farley has waded into the debate in his inimitable style.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Kane's competitor for the Premier League Golden Boot, took to Twitter to share his disbelief at the Premier League's ruling and found support from quite a few of his club mates.

Harry Kane is looking to overtake Mohamed Salah for the Golden Boot.

"(Salah) told me he's going to claim all of them", Henderson told BT Sport after the Egypt worldwide scored his 30th league goal of the campaign. "He's got to keep going and try to get as many as he can".

"We need to be consistent during the whole season and be the best team like Manchester City is doing today". We have just got to pick ourselves up and try and pick ourselves up as quick as we can. "Now we still have four (Premier League) games and they have five or six games so I have to think about my games and we see". "He has got great finishing".

The decision was greeted with surprise by Salah, while Liverpool's Jordan Henderson could not resist a joke at Kane's expense following to win over Bournemouth, which moved the Reds three points clear of Spurs.

Kane's hopes of catching Salah were boosted when he was awarded Spurs' second goal in the 2-1 win over Stoke ahead of Christian Eriksen following an unprecedented appeal by Spurs.

"It gives some people a chance to put him down", said Alli.

"I am happy to have this feeling, you know". He's just got to keep it going, with his work rate, his movement off the ball, how strong he is.
