Facebook will add AR doodles and Boomerang GIFs to Stories

Facebook might be having a bit of a rough time these days, but its latest feature - Facebook Stories - is something to look forward too. It is also making users post to Stories by default when they use Facebook Camera.

The report also pointed out that AR drawing will be known as "3D drawing" and will roll out for Facebook users in coming weeks. The addition of these extra creativity options could be an attempt to make the Facebook camera, a more popular place for content creators while trying to compete with the competition.

The new feature will let users doodle and scribble on the screen before or while they are recording and see what augmented reality graffiti looks like on various surfaces as they move their phone around.

3D drawing on Facebook could be the future of AR as it could simplify the process of newbies and people with little idea of how these things work.

The second new feature announced for Facebook Stories - Boomerang - is an evolution of the GIF-creating feature available for a while. You can find out more about the same by going through the demo video released by TechCrunch. Facebook also launched AR tracker target experiences which would trigger from QR codes or real-world posters. With the availability of the AR-based 3D drawing feature clear signifies that a major push is being given to the Stories and it is said to help increase the popularity of stories and drive user engagement.

On the other hand, Instagram's Boomerang feature is going to replace the Camera button on the Stories on Facebook.

Stories section is available not only on Facebook, the same Stories section which was first available on Snapchat is now available on Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram.

Today in updates that no one asked for, Facebook is updating its Facebook Stories features in its app with two new features, Boomerang support and AR drawings.
