GOP congressmen want Comey's memos on Trump

President Donald Trump went on a Twitter rampage Sunday morning, blasting former FBI Director James Comey on Twitter as "slippery" and predicting Comey will be remembered "as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!"

"I don't know the guy", he added.

Trump fired off a series of tweets early ahead of an interview Comey did with United States television network the ABC that was set to air in full on Sunday evening. He casts Trump as a mobster-like figure who sought to blur the line between law enforcement and politics and tried to pressure him personally regarding his investigation into Russian election interference.

The intense scrutiny over the meeting prompted Lynch to say she would accept whatever outcome Comey recommended as a result of the probe.

In his tweet, Trump says: "Unbelievably, James Comey states that Polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe".

In the book, Comey compares Trump to a mafia don and calls his leadership of the country "ego driven and about personal loyalty". Or do you think neither of them are?

It appears that the decisions made by the former head of the FBI regarding Hillary Clinton's email server investigation were affected by his expectations regarding the 2016 presidential elections.

Trump is reacting to Comey's new book, which compares the president to an unethical mob boss who demands loyalty and twists facts to serve his objective.

"I think it above all is a truthful portrayal of Jim's observations, his feelings and what occurred", Clapper said.

That is the game of Washington politicians and pundits, a world Comey disdains as a member of the elite guild of lawyer-bureaucrats from the Justice Department.

Comey's idol is theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, who injected liberal Protestant ethics into Washington politics in the middle of the 20th century, shaping a generation of policy makers with somewhat firmer moral backbones. "He mentioned a number of women, and seemed to have memorized their allegations", Comey writes.

Trump recently accused Comey of leaking classified information, saying he should be prosecuted for lying to Congress under oath.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told CNN he had "every confidence" in the accuracy of Comey's book.

Asked about Trump's use of the words last week "slimeball" to describe Comey, Ryan said, "I don't use words like that".

Although the Federal Bureau of Investigation ultimately decided not to refer Clinton's case for prosecution, Democrats said Comey's announcement damaged her with voters right before the election, and he faced complaints that his moves were politically motivated.
