Is Gmail Testing Self-Destructing Messages?

Is Gmail Testing Self-Destructing Messages?

Google on Thursday unveiled Google Go, a new app built to support Android devices with one gigabyte Random Access Memory (RAM) and below.

"We're working on some major updates to Gmail (they're still in draft phase)", a Google spokesperson said. The sidebar will certainly take some getting used to but we can see the potential it has for managing your day to day workflow from within a single web page. "We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can't share anything yet - archive this for now, and we'll let you know when it's time to hit send", shared the spokesperson.

The Gmail overhaul, apart from a complete redesign, will also pack a handful of modern features you usually find on third-party clients. New features for Gmail on the web include Smart Reply and Snooze. Though the tech giant has addressed a communication in this regard to the G Suite administration, The Verge reports that the the new look and feel of Gmail will be made available to personal Gmail account holders as well. The feature is already available on the mobile app and helps you reply to messages with AI selected short replies. Since confidential emails are not a standard email feature, how can they work for people who aren't Gmail users?

Recently Google sent out to administrators Suite G message about the upcoming redesign of the web version of its Gmail. This allows you to quickly open Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks without having to leave Gmail, and it would appear that you'll be able to add additional apps to the sidebar as well. While ProtonMail deletes the message completely after a certain amount of time, Google sends a link to the message in the email which becomes inaccessible after a certain amount of time - leaving the intermediate email in the inbox.

Google's Go apps - much like Facebook Lite and Twitter Lite - require less storage space on device and can function more efficiently on slower networks.

According to the report, Google is planning to roll out all these features in the coming weeks, especially since the Google I/O developer conference is scheduled to start on May 8.
