Judge rules jury can hear Bill Cosby quaaludes testimony

Cosby's shield crew on Monday hunted to undercut Constand'therefore credibility, pressing her about accusations that she'd schemed to exchange a false story of misuse to reap hush dollars.

Second trial: Mesereau asked Constand about the emails, seeking to bolster his claim that she's a con artist.

The mother testified about a phone conversation she said she had with Cosby about a year after the alleged assault on her daughter in which he described in graphic detail their sexual encounter and then apologized.

"He said to me, 'Don't worry, Mom, there was no penile penetration,"' Gianna Constand testified.

Cosby, 80, has denied any acts of non-consensual sexual activity.

Bill Cosby's lawyer is trying to paint the chief accuser in the comedian's sex-assault case as an unrequited lover who spent late nights at the comedian's home, drove hours to see him at a casino and called him twice on Valentine's Day after she says he drugged and molested her.

Cosby paid $3.4 million in an out of court settlement, but did not admit to doing anything wrong.

Five other women who also allege that Cosby drugged and assaulted them were called to the stand by the prosecution.

Constand is one of about 50 women who have accused Cosby of assaults dating back decades.

"Just because I'm concerned, I don't know how it affected her and I wanna know", Gianna Constand told Cosby in the 2005 call.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.

Ms Jackson, who worked at Temple University at around the same time as Ms Constand, will testify that ahead of Ms Constand's allegations against Cosby in 2005, the accuser had mused to her about setting up a "high-profile person" and filing a suit.

Gianna Constand repeated several times, "you're wrong".

Judge Steven O'Neill disclosed the injury as the retrial resumed Monday.

Actor and comedian Bill Cosby returns to the courtroom following a recess on the sixth day of his sensual attack retrial in the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, U.S., April16, 2018.

"It did not state that she could not cooperate, that is speak to investigators, if there were a criminal investigation", Attorney Gloria Allred said. But Mesereau said phone records showed she did not make any phone calls to Cosby's Philadelphia phone number that month.

Bliss then attempted to show that Gianna Constand did not know everything going on in her daughter's life, and therefore wouldn't know if she was "having an affair" with Cosby.

She told jurors that Cosby said he "felt like a dirty old perverted man" and, at the end of the call, conceded he was a "sick man".

The women said their memory of the alleged assaults are hazy, but recall Cosby assaulting them in some way after taking the pills or accepting drinks.

The defence pointed to the phone records as evidence that she had kept in touch with Cosby in the following weeks at a level at odds with her account of having been assaulted.

O'Neill said he was anxious he'd have to wait to have the procedure during the week, delaying testimony and keeping sequestered jurors in their hotel longer.

Andrea Constand faces more defense questions on Monday, and Cosby lawyer Tom Mesereau is scouring a binder full of her police statements and prior testimony for inconsistencies.

The judge has ruled that Jackson can take the stand at the retrial but indicated he could revisit the issue after Constand was finished testifying.

During cross examination Friday, the trial lawyer had Constand flustered with questions about whether she'd ever said she was affectionate toward Cosby.
