Kellyanne Conway On James Comey: 'This Guy Swung An Election'

While the nation is still reeling after George Stephanopoulos' 20/20 interview with former FBI Director James Comey on Sunday, users on social media are pretty preoccupied with Kellyanne Conway's reaction to the scathing tell-all of sorts.

Conway also referred to Comey's admission that he may have subconsciously expected Hillary Clinton to become the next president when he decided 11 days before the election to announce the reopening of an investigation into her emails. Point I made on 3 shows is that we are supposed to believe THIS guy swung an election?

Conway's comment, a reference to Comey's October 2016 announcement that the FBI had restarted its investigation into Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, contradicts the White House's long-standing position.

Last July, the Daily Beast reported that an internal memo in the Trump campaign admitted that the Comey announcement had impacted the election.

In an explosive TV interview ahead of the release of his book, Mr Comey offered his version of events surrounding his sacking last May and the investigations into Russian election meddling. On Sunday, Comey said he felt that sending the letter was the right thing to do.

Remember, too, that when Trump first fired Comey in 2017, one of the White House's initial defenses of the firing was because of how Comey mishandled the Clinton investigation, though Trump himself would later admit the Russian Federation investigation played a role.

McCabe's attorney has asserted publicly that emails show "that Mr. McCabe advised Director Comey that he was working with colleagues at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to correct inaccuracies before the stories were published, and that they remained in contact through the weekend while the interactions with the reporter continued". "The president hardly knew the man".

CNN's chyron proceeded to falsely claim Conway thought Comey handed the election to Donald Trump with the chyron "KELLYANNE CONWAY: COMEY 'SWUNG AN ELECTION'".

Others were also quick to jump on Conway's Comey comments.

Comey just loves "being in the proximity of power", Conway shot back.
