New BioShock game reportedly in development at unknown 2K Games studio

Could the BioShock franchise be rising from the watery depths?

The mention of the new game's development came up in the part of Kotaku's article that covered where certain Hangar 13 developers had been assigned following the work done with Mafia III: "Many of the people who helped make Mafia III are now gone, including the game's art director, technical art director, senior producers, design director, many design leads, and a number of other key staff".

BioShock will also continue to use the Unreal Engine according to the report.

So now we know that Bioshock is returning, but will it be at E3 this year?

This scoop comes from a Kotaku story chronicling Hangar 13's recently turbulent history.

Diving into the actual story reveals details about turbulent times at Hangar 13 following the release of Mafia III.

Since then, the studio has "floundered" as it tries to figure out what its next project should be, with ideas like a fourth Mafia set in Las Vegas during the 70s, a spy game set in Berlin in the 80s, and a music-fueled action game ultimately being abandoned. It seems like it was a source of tension within Hangar 13, everyone competing to get a chance to work on BioShock. Numerous people who helped make Mafia III are now gone, including the game's art director, technical art director, senior producers, design director, many design leads, and a number of other key staff. It remains to be seen just how many of them will be involved with this new BioShock, but we're just going to have to wait for an official announcement somewhere down the line.

"Next door", the report reads, "a small group of people were working on a project code-named Parkside, quietly recruiting from across the video game industry for a game so secret, they wouldn't even tell their colleagues at Hangar 13 about it".
