Sambora left Bon Jovi in 2013 and Such in 1994.

The presenter who'll induct Dire Straits hasn't been announced yet, and only three of the band's members will be on hand for the event: bassist John Illsley, and keyboardists Alan Clark and Guy Fletcher.

Founded in Boston, The Cars had a strong connection to Cleveland, the hometown of late bassist Benjamin Orr, who sang lead vocals on some the band's biggest hits like "Just What I Needed", "Bye Bye Love" and "Drive".

Tharpe died in 1973 and was a pioneering guitarist who performed gospel music.

Bon Jovi plays the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2018 induction Ceremony or wait until it airs on HBO starting on Saturday May 5. "We know that we could do "You Give Love a Bad Name, ' "Livin" on a Prayer" or 'Wanted Dead or Alive, ' but they're hardly representative of our career - that's just one album", he says of 1986's 12 times platinum release Slippery When Wet. The rocker and activist's band, Bon Jovi - along with two other artists with area ties, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe - join The Cars, Dire Straits (sans leader Mark Knopfler) and The Moody Blues as part of 2018's new Rock Hall membership.

R&B star Mary J. Blige will welcome Simone into the Rock Hall, while contemporary R&B singer Andra Day will perform in Nina's honor.

Frontman Mark Knopfler and his brother, rhythm guitarist David Knopfler, won't be attending.

Rock Hall voters have recently opened their hearts to progressive rockers, which benefited "Nights in White Satin" singers The Moody Blues, to be inducted by Ann Wilson of Heart. She will be inducted by Brittany Howard, of blues rock band Alabama Shakes.

Each year, between five and seven acts usually make it into the Rock Hall following a vote by 1,000 people, including performers, music historians and industry experts.

Their die-hard fans pushed for years for them to be nominated, citing their influence on bands like Yes, Genesis and Rush - all Hall of Famers.
