Russia Holds the US, UK and France Responsible for Attack on Syria

In a nationwide address on Friday night, Trump announced the USA, along with the United Kingdom and France, would launch "precision airstrikes" in Syria after President Bashar Assad allegedly used chemical weapons against civilians in the country's ongoing civil war.

In one of his tweets on Wednesday, Trump described the relationship with Russian Federation as the worse ever been.

At stake in Syria is the potential for confrontation, if not outright conflict, between the US and Russian Federation, former Cold War foes whose relations have deteriorated in recent years over Moscow's intervention in Ukraine, its interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and, most recently, its support for Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The U.N. ambassador said the the United States would continue to seek out and call out anyone who uses or aids the use of chemical weapons.

The warning came after United States said that it is planning to strike Syria in response to the alleged chemical attack in Damascus earlier this month, which killed dozens. The U.S. Defense Department said it did not comment on potential military actions.

"I spoke to the president this morning, and he said, 'If the Syrian regime uses this poisonous gas again, the United States is locked and loaded, '" Nikki Haley said at an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting called by Russian Federation after the USA and allies struck three targets in Syria.

After the USA warmongering rhetoric against Syria and its allies, Russian Federation warned the US of striking Syria.

Speaking at a news conference in the capital, Maria Zaharova condemned the threats from U.S. President Donald Trump aimed not only at Syria, but also Russian Federation.

Syrian regime forces says more than one 100 missiles were fired against a military base in Syria's central Homs province and the research centre in Barzeh, near Damascus.

But on Thursday, Trump tweeted: "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place".

A French frigate, UK Royal Navy submarines laden with cruise missiles and the USS Donald Cook, an American destroyer equipped with Tomahawk land attack missiles, have all moved into range of Syria's sun-bleached coast. "Get ready, Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and smart!"

Asked about Trump's tweet about an impending attack on Syria, former Defense Secretary William Cohen, who ran the Pentagon for President Bill Clinton, said on CNN that it "compromises the mission somewhat".

"Smart missiles should fly toward terrorists, not the legitimate government that has been fighting worldwide terrorism for several years on its territory", she said.

"Insulting the president of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible", added the envoy, after President Donald Trump directly called out his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over his support for the Assad regime.

This comes as Israel targeted the Syrian T-4 airbase in the central province of Homs a couple of days ago, killing 14 soldiers including Iranian fighters amid Iranian warnings.

Russian Federation warned the West Friday against any "dangerous" moves on Syria as its rivals hesitated over possible strikes on the country which Moscow has warned could lead to "war". He spoke during a meeting with Ali Akbar Velayati, an aide to the supreme leader of ally Iran.

Top military officials, including Defense Secretary James Mattis, warned Trump during an afternoon meeting Thursday that he risks escalating USA involvement in Syria if he goes forward with the type of aggressive bombing campaign he has pushed over the past week, according to United States and Western officials briefed on the conversation.

French President Emmanuel Macron proved helpful in the planning of the latest Syrian campaign, the official said.
