Shenmue 1&2 are getting a current gen release

Sega confirmed the news at Sega Fest 2018, saying these action-adventure classics will be making their way to PS4 in Japan.

Adam Koralik, a YouTuber focused on video game content, traveled to Japan for SEGA Fes 2018 and there they confirmed that Shenmue I & II will be sold for a price of $29.99 United States dollars on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Meanwhile, the successfully Kickstarted third installment, Shenmue 3, is now still in development and will be released later this year.

Like we said, Shenmue 1 and 2 will be hitting modern platforms sometime later this year.

"You've asked, we listened and we're extremely excited to finally announce that Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in one package!" says Sega via a tweet over the weekend. Pre-orders for the re-release are already live, but a final release date has yet to be announced.

This collection of two games will be offered with fully scalable screen resolution, a choice between modern and classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an enhanced user interface and even an option to switch between Japanese or English voiceovers. And while they will boast some improvements, these are not full on HD remakes or remasters.

All three upcoming versions of the series will follow Ryo Hazuki, a promising martial arts student on a quest to find out the person behind the murder of his father, and its possible connection to the mysterious artifact called the Dragon Mirror. All we know is that it will be released this year with no exact date.
