The 19-percentage-point gap in favor of Democrats in New Jersey is significantly wider than the generic House vote edge of nine points in a national poll last month.

New-jersey has 12 representatives inside your home - 7 Democrats and five Republicans.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll shows that the number of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents registered to votes has fallen to 75% from 84% in November.

Monmouth pollers say this puts all five of New Jersey's GOP-held seats at risk.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Monday showed a nationwide tightening for Democrats in a generic congressional ballot among registered voters, down to an advantage of 4 percentage points at 47%. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points for the full sample and 3.9 percentage points for registered voters.

A GOP mega-donor and hedge fund billionaire is fed up with the president and Republicans' inability to get things done despite having control of the Congress and the White House, so he's giving his money to Democrats. Still, Trump continues to face majority disapproval at 56 percent, higher than any president at this stage since the dawn of modern polling, an indication that he remains a significant liability for Republicans on November's ballot. Among registered voters, 76 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents see Pelosi negatively, surpassing her positive score among Democrats and Democratic leaners by 19 points.

Enthusiasm is also shifting.

Fifty-four percent of registered voters in New Jersey say they would vote or lean toward voting for the Democratic candidate in their district compared with 35 percent who would support the Republican candidate if the election was held now.

In the previous two House elections, the aggregate vote from those districts averaged a 22-point advantage for the Republicans (59 percent to 38 percent in 2016 and 61 percent to 38 percent in 2014), according to the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

Democrats are facing backlash on other issues as well, especially in California, where lawmakers passed a very unpopular gas tax increase created to fix infrastructure problems. Almost half (49 percent) of New Jerseyans expect that their tax bills will rise as a result of the overhaul, which scaled back the popular state and local tax deduction.

Only 35 percent of state residents approve of the new tax reform law, while 46 percent disapprove. Nationally the new law has 41 percent support, while 42 percent are against it.

Among other results, the poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, finds more than three-quarters of Americans looking for a congressional candidate who agrees with them on gun policy.
