Trump Again Rips Comey Book

Trump Again Rips Comey Book

Comey admits that he did not vote for Obama, and financially supported his opponents, but writes glowingly of the Obama he came to know, describing him as "an extraordinary listener" and a man of kindness and intellect.

Copies of the book were first obtained by news outlets on Thursday.

Before Trump and Comey met alone, USA intelligence chiefs briefed Trump and his advisers on Russia's election meddling. "These rules and standards were hallmarks of the Mafia, but throughout my career I'd be surprised how often I'd find them applied outside of it", Comey writes.

New Jersey's NJ.com, for instance, goes with this headline: "Comey: Getting wedgies as a kid in N.J. prepared me for Trump". Comey also has drawn fire from the left for his treatment of the Hillary Clinton pre-election email scandal, so it will be interesting to see how his book is received by Democrats. Comey advised the president against pursuing an investigation because he said it would make it appear that Trump was being personally investigated and because it is very hard to prove something didn't happen.

Trump didn't take the revelations lying down, calling out Comey on Twitter a "weak and untruthful slime ball", and a "proven LEAKER & LIAR".

Trump has denied having asked Comey for his loyalty.

Donald Trump and James Comey Getty Images Trump also brought up the now-infamous meeting between former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton on an airport tarmac at the height of the Clinton email probe.

Comey's book "A Higher Loyalty", details his conversations with the President, mocks Trump's appearance, and slams the "forest fire that is the Trump presidency". The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's tell-all memoir is slated for release Tuesday and claims the president urged him to disprove salacious parts of the notorious Steele Dossier.

"I don't know the answer to that", Comey said.

In his press tour, Comey is sure to be asked to weigh in on Trump and the various twists and turns in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election as well as any potential links between Russia and Trump campaign associates.

Todd asked, "Would you take him at his word?"

The scene is one of several vignettes included in the upcoming memoir that describe his sorrowful interactions with Democrats after Clinton's crushing loss. "I don't know. Certainly not consciously, but I would be a fool to say it couldn't have had an impact on me".

There is no indication that any such tape exists, and Trump has pushed back against the allegation. "Again, very unusual", Comey wrote.

Trump would probably do best, in fact, to keep quiet and let Comey destroy on his own the idea, if anyone still holds it, that he's a righteous public servant who cares only about truth, justice, and the American way.

"We find that Mr. Comey has a revisionist view of history and seems like a disgruntled ex-employee, afterall he was sacked", Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway added.
