Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Linebacker, Harrison Retires

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots linebacker James Harrison has announced his retirement from the National Football League for the second time.

Earlier this month, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Harrison meant to play in 2018 and hoped to sign with someone as a free agent after this month's draft, but apparently he's had a change of heart. Harrison seems excited to spend more time with his children this time.

He played 69 snaps in the Patriots' Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pittsburgh signed the Kent State product in 2002 as an undrafted rookie free agent.

"I've missed way too much for way too long...and I'm done", Harrison wrote. This time however, it seems as though Harrison will not be persuaded to suit up again.

Be sure to do an extra bench press and set of leg squats for James Harrison on Monday. He announced in August he was done, but Harrison returned to the field in September.

His previous retirement attempt lasted only one month in 2014.

At a position where few last into their mid-30s, Harrison continued to thrive. He played sparingly for much of 2017 and the Steelers granted him his release in December. Even if the stats have him at the top, the fans will forever remember his move to the dark side (New England) over his 15 sack season or Defensive Player of the Year. He had 10 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception that day against Baltimore.
