On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sengar, who was later sent to a seven-day CBI custody on Saturday in connection with the case. Sources here on Monday said that CBI was reported to had taken a decision of narco test after it found discrepancies in the statements of the MLA during interrogation. Meanwhile, the three FIRs have been filed by the UP Police in the case have been transferred to the CBI.

The girl's uncle however accused the Unnao administration of conniving to save the legislator. This would be the second statement recorded by the victim.

The Supreme Court today did not favour handing over the investigation into the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua from the crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police to the CBI as her father expressed satisfaction over the investigation carried out so far.
