Bangladesh Sends its First Ever Communication Satellite

Falcon 9 delivered Bangabandhu Satellite-1 to a geostationary transfer orbit and the spacecraft was deployed approximately 33 minutes after liftoff. In September 2016, a Falcon 9 blew up throughout preparations for a fixed fire test and damaged a telecom satellite for Israeli fleet operator Spacecom.

SpaceX tracked the cause to liquid oxygen at the top phase tank which has trapped between the COPV overwrap and lining and sparked either from friction or alternative mechanics. Following stage separation, Falcon 9's first stage successfully landed on "Of Course I Still Love You", SpaceX's droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

"This is by far the most advanced pressure vessel ever developed by humanity", Musk said. "It's nuts. I have actually personally reviewed the style; I can not count the number of times". The very best technology minds at SpaceX have agonized over this ... "I think we are in a good situation".

Musk stated the COPVs now have a burst pressure "more than two times exactly what they are in fact filled to on the pad". Musk also said that after minor modifications Block 5 can be run up to a hundred times.

"The term "block" is a little odd".

Hans Koenigsmann, a senior SpaceX manager said in a press statement,"Block 5 basically summarizes all that we learned on reusability".

Musk said the each of the nine Merlin engines used to power the Falcon 9's first stage now have an 8 percent increase in thrust at sea level to 190,000 pounds-force.

The Block 4 Merlin 1D engines featured constant chamber pressure.

In comparison, the Block 5 Falcon 9 is twice as powerful as the Falcon 9 that first launched a demonstration resupply mission for NASA in 2010.

The single vacuum-optimized Merlin engine on Falcon 9's second stage has a 5 percent thrust increase to 220,000 pounds-force, he said. More importantly, the launch of the Falcon 9 may bring us one step closer to the manned trip to Mars - one of Musk's ultimat goals for his company.

"In principle, we can refly Block 4 likely upwards of 10 times, but with a reasonable amount of work involving every flight", Musk said. "The one thing which must change would be to reload propellant and fly".

But until that milestone is reached, Musk said last Friday SpaceX plans to relaunch the Stage 5 for three or four more times by the end of the year.

- SpaceX has launched a satellite for Bangladesh using an upgraded rocket designed for dozens of repeat flights. Additionally, it is designed for simpler manufacturing. The octaweb is created with bolted rather than aluminum and has higher thermal protection to avoid melting, " he said.

SpaceX put lock systems on the Falcon 9's landing legs so the vehicle does not need to depend on external clamps for steadying on ocean-platform landings, Musk stated.
