Cops suspected cocaine in Cardinals receiver's odd golf arrest

Cops suspected cocaine in Cardinals receiver's odd golf arrest reported the arrest and the Cardinals' reaction to it.

Perhaps the goal of that pre-draft visit was to learn more about the Texas A&M product's character after he was arrested back in early February, months before the draft, for disorderly conduct and property damage.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk was arrested in February and charged with disorderly conduct and damaging property on Feb. 3, almost three months before the Arizona Cardinals selected him with a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. "As they were walking through a parking lot, (they were observed) throwing rocks at cars and breaking a window of at least one of them".

"I further noticed the grinding movement of his jaw and continued blank stare", the arresting officer said, per TMZ.

A Cardinals spokesman said the team was aware of the incident prior to drafting Kirk. This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Cardinals, who said that the team had already spoken to Kirk about what allegedly happened at the Phoenix Open, and had looked "independently" into the case. "Our understanding is that the process will be resolved in the near future but while it remains an active legal matter, we won't comment further".

If that's not bad enough, TMZ adds that Kirk was high on cocaine at the time of the arrest.

"I think the situation is going to resolve itself here in a couple of months".

Before the draft, Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said he wants players who have the right character. He played high school football at Scottsdale Saguaro High.
