Golf star's wife charged after allegedly attacking him for poor round

The wife of former US Open champion Lucas Glover is facing domestic violence charges stemming from an altercation with Glover and his mother after he missed the 54-hole cut at The Players Championship.

Krista Glover, the wife of the surprise 2009 US Open victor, was arrested at a house where the couple was staying during the tournament, following an altercation with her husband.

Police arrived after a reported disturbance where they found Lucas and Krista having a "verbal altercation" in the porch of their residence.

Deputies, however, noted in their reports there were fresh lacerations to Lucas' right arm and "multiple lacerations" to both his 62-year-old mother Hershey Glover's arms, as well as blood on her clothes. Glover has won three times on tour, including the 2009 U.S. Open. Police noted that Krista resisted arrest and she attempted to flea from her handcuffs.

Once inside, Krista allegedly damaged the auto by kicking the door.

Hershey Glover, the golfer's mother, allegedly attempted to intervene on her son's behalf. The report also states Krista threatened the police.

And since he had a bad day live on national television alongside the likes of Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose, she allegedly went off on him when he got home. The elder Glover reportedly told authorities that her daughter-in-law punched her in the chest.

When Lucas's mother was interviewed, she told deputies she tried to stop a loud argument between husband and wife over the golfer's performance, but Krista turned against her and hit her repeatedly. 'You will lose your job.

"This is why cops get shot in the face", she told deputies. Wait till I talk with the judge, you will be f***ng fired over this'.

Lucas took to Twitter Tuesday to acknowledge there was argument and that "everyone is fine". She was released on $2,500 bond and has a date in court on May 31.

"Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter", he tweeted. "Of course, we are here to provide support to Lucas and his family if needed; however, we are also respecting their request for privacy during this time".

Glover said his wife had been drinking during the day.
