Morocco Retains 42nd Spot in FIFA Ranking

South Africa remain unchanged at number 72 in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday‚ but will have the opportunity in the coming weeks to climb the table.

The rankings, published on Federation Internationale de Football Association website, also saw nigeria retain their sixth position in the African continent.

According to the rankings, seven global "A" matches, all friendlies, took place in the month and as a result there are few movers in the latest ranking.

Four of the top five African ranked teams have qualified for Russian Federation 2018 with Tunisia retaining their top spot, followed by Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco and Egypt.

The first 47 positions remain unchanged from April's ranking, but outside the top 50, a couple of nations have made notable advances.

The Top 5 in the rankings remain largely the same with Belgium having recently moved up two places into third position.

There were no changes at the world's top 40 with Germany, Brazil and Belgium still clinging to the top three positions with barely a month to the Fifa World Cup kickoff in Russian Federation.

The next rankings would be released on June 7.

There is also no movement by the Super Eagles' 2018 World Cup Group D opponents as they all maintained their previous spots.
