MTV Suspends 'Catfish' While It Probes Nev Schulman Sexual Misconduct Claims

Details on the allegations are not now available, but Schulman does have a controversial incident from his past.

"We take these allegations very seriously", a spokesperson for the network said in a statement. "We're working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation". Nev was previously arrested for punching a young, gay woman in the head repeatedly while he was a student at Sarah Lawrence College in NY.

Bizarrely, he admitted to the incident and even defended his actions, saying he believed the "short, stocky, crew-cut-styled" individual he beat up was a man. "I tapped his shoulder and he turned and hit me out of nowhere, I went down and he held me in a head lock and repeatedly punched me while I tried to get free", she said at the time. "The impact broke my glasses and the rest of the night was a blur". It aimed to not let Schulman, who petition creator Philip Greenwood referred to as a "violent women beater", be the host of Catfish or any other MTV-related programs. Schulman and his wife Laura Perlongo uploaded the latest episode of Season 2 of their online breakup series We Need to Talk, titled "Cheaters", two weeks ago.

Catfish: The TV Show is an extension of the film Catfish, a documentary that followed Schulman as he pursued an online romance that turned out to be a con. He tells the Hollywood Reporter, that the claims aren't true, and he adds that the alleged behavior described by the woman never happened. Morgan also accuses a production assistant named "Carol" of sexual misconduct during her time filming the show.
