Multiple people hurt after school bus, dump truck crash on NJ highway

Many injuries have been reported.

- A school bus and a dump truck were involved in a crash on Route 80 in Mount Olive, New Jersey Thursday morning, according to NJ State Police. "The front of the bus is barely recognizable", News 4 reports.

Authorities confirmed multiple injuries to NBC, but did not detail how many or whether they included children. Raw video from the scene: The extent of the injuries is unknown, but at least two victims have life-threatening injuries.

The front of the school bus was reportedly badly damaged in the crash and various parts of the vehicle were seen laying on the highway. The top of the bus came completely off of the undercarriage of the bus.

Manuel Absalon, a tourist from Mexico who was traveling on a New York City-bound bus from Toronto on Route 80, says he didn't see the actual collision but was struck by the aftermath. "It looked like it was broken in half".

A witness said the school bus appeared to have collided with a dump truck. The school district's office said the superintendent is working on a statement.

The crash took place around 10:30 a.m. on I-80 westbound near Exit 25 and Route 206.

The Mount Olive mayor said the bus is owned by the Paramus Board of Education, according to CNN.
