No Man's Sky Xbox One release set for July, bringing multiplayer

The upcoming update, which the studio titled No Man's Sky Next, was announced in March and is said to be the game's largest update yet. Besides that, he also showcased the new "NEXT" update for the game, which will be bringing in new multiplayer features and 4K support for the Xbox One.

It's still never quite shaken off the sense of disappointment from the initial launch but now it's finally getting one of the most requested features: proper multiplayer.

This is the same date players across PS4, Xbox and PC will receive the long-awaited multiplayer patch, previously described as the "biggest update ever" for No Man's Sky. You'll be able to group up with your friends and explore the galaxy together, but you can also bump into strangers along the way.

Murray broke the news during Microsoft's latest Inside Xbox livestream, stating that the new multiplayer will improve on the current system by allowing for more player interaction. This includes exploring the universe and attacking other teams to epic space battles.

After numerous free updates No Man's Sky is a very different game today then when it was released back in the summer of 2016.

While functionality has already been implemented to allow players to see one another as glowing orbs (but scarcely interact), this update will allow base building collaboration.
