Nokia to take wraps off its X6 smartphone today

HMD Global, the company that now holds the right to manufacture and sell Nokia phones, had scheduled a launch event in China last month on April 27th. The latter boasts 95% glass coverage and metal side frame. Specs-wise, the Nokia X6 is definitely a mid-range device.

Under the hood, the Nokia X6 holds an octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor, up to 6GB RAM, and a 3060mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 capabilities. The display is covered by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which protects from minor scratches.

The Nokia X6 is officially priced at CNY1,299 (Rs 13,800 approx) for the 4 GBRAM + 32 GB internal storage variant, at CNY 1,499 (Rs 16,000 approx) for the 4 GBRAM+64 GBinternal storage variant and at CNY1,699 (Rs 18,100 approx.) for the 6 GBRAM+ 64 GBinternal storage variant. A hybrid slot is onboard as well letting you expand the storage via a microSD card if you are willing to give up the second SIM.

Just like the display, the phone's dual rear camera configuration is something that already known by public before, but today's unveiling has revealed that the camera features a combination of 16MP and 5MP sensors.

The Nokia X6 can be bought on May 21 in China starting at CNY1,299 ($204) for the most modest 4GB/32GB variant. It is likely to run on the Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The colors variants are blue, black and silver. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. There's no mention of fast-charging on the phone. The screen cutout on the 5.8-inch Nokia X6 is unsurprisingly smaller than the iPhone X's Face ID-supporting component, accommodating a more than respectable 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and obligatory AI tricks.

HMD Global, says that it is committed to the China market, and has further announced that they will setup a global mobile center at Shenzhen in China, which will focus on research.
