We'll have to await more details surrounding a Lando Calrissian spin-off, but for now, it looks like we can expect Gambino's role in Star Wars to continue. President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, spoke to the publication at the Cannes film festival.

Lucasfilm told Polygon Wednesday that a Lando spinoff would be something they'd like to do in the future, but it's not necessarily the next movie in the pipeline.

If a Lando film moves forward, what story would you like it to tell?

The publication later adjusted its article with the note: "Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy".

Lando Calrissian, the smoothest smuggler in the galaxy, may be the subject of the next Star Wars stand alone movie. Kennedy instead said something akin to the Lando Calrissian movie being something she'd like to do some day, but there are no concrete plans for it to be the next spin-off just yet. "When they called me up there, I said, 'I don't know if I'm up for a fourth Star Wars movie, ' and they said, 'Well, what if it was Han?'"

In the new film, the character is portrayed by Donald Glover and, as stills and trailers reveal, he is a slick-talking maverick whose path crosses with titular hero Han Solo.

LucasFilm have always been rumoured to be planning sequels for Solo, but it presumably depends on how the movie fares at the box office when it opens later this month.

In addition to the Lando movie, there's also rumors that pre-production has already begun for an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off film.

So what sort of schedule can we expect if Lando is suddenly next in the pipeline?
