Shenmue 3 Officially Delayed To 2019

So any extra time that can be used to deliver the best quality game is a positive, in my eyes.

Suzuki provided a heartfelt update to the KickStarter supporters over on the official page, noting, "To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay". Shenmue 3, as you might recall, started off as a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign back during E3 2015 and while the prospect of a threequel for Yu Suzuki's beloved series is exciting, there's no denying that Kickstarter projects often leave participants with broken dreams and lighter wallets.

"Deep Silver today announced that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019".

Shenmue fans, mark your calendars... again.

This is a bit of a setback considering that the game has been in and out of development over the last decade. Creator Yu Suzuki also apologized for the delay, promising "to use this time to improve the quality of Shenmue 3". Still, as long as they can ensure that the game will be as good as it possibly can be, I guess we can all just suck it up for now. "We can not thank you enough for your enduring support". That's why Shenmue 3 is now facing a delay, moving its release window to 2019.

As we said above, you'll still be able to enjoy Shenmue HD Collection in the meantime, as Sega will release that compilation sometime later this year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Shenmue 3 is expected to finally produce some closure for those who played through the first two games.
